I veged out a bit today and had a change and went blackberry picking next to the River Plenty. It rained pretty hard overnight which was fantastic, and everything was pretty damp.

There were blackberries everywhere and it didn’t take long to get a bowl full. It was very relaxing too and very quiet and peaceful.

I took them home and washed them and below is the result….

While I was doing that I cooked some beetroot from the garden, in the pressure cooker and pickled it. See below….

If you’ve never had fresh garden-grown pickled beetroot then you don’t know what you’re missing! Pretty soon, how to do it will be on this site. A bloke could do it!
