House Front Garden
Last weekend we started work on the garden at the front of the house. It’s always been my intention to totally redo it and it looked pretty darn awful.
Terrissa, my partner started things off by moving some of the rocks bordering and beds and things went from there. By lunchtime on Saturday all of the rocks had been removed and in the afternoon we cut down a couple of wattles that were nearby.
Once the garden is clear, the idea is to rotary hoe it all and lawn it.
We started burning the trees on Saturday afternoon and I finished this on Sunday. On Tuesday a work colleague and friend, Dan, came up to help in the afternoon and we were going to cement the base for the home power system but ended up pulling out the stumps and a couple of rose bushes with his 4wd instead. Thanks Dan that was a great help and saved me a lot of digging! We did end up boxing up the pad though in the end and I concreted that in this afternoon. A few weeks ago another mate, Roger, gave me his old cement mixer and I used that for the first time. Unluckily it made 3 batches and then gave up the ghost and I had to mix the cement by hand to finish it off. Got it done though.
With the rocks we took from the front garden Terrissa and I placed them along the top of the the first tier and made another garden bed there. On Monday I went and got a trailer-load of pine bark for that area. Have to get another soon as the load went about half way.
